The BAD Ones

My Perspective of You All This Time.

“Snack Time!!!” I went down and sat on the hump. I was at my school after care. I sat down to this boy named Billy. He had black hair and blue eyes. He was a little short and a little plump. A lot of people said I looked like him but I don’t know what they are talking about. I am tall and skinny. My hair is long where as his is short. He is in the 6th grade of my school. He is second to one of the most annoying people I know. The first is this kid named Marcus. I would tell you what he looks like except, well, he even looks annoying!

This girl named Avery sat down next to me with this boy named Griffin. He had blond hair and blue eyes. He is very tall and very skinny. Griffin was Maddy Pedigo’s sister. I thought that he was in 5th grade or else he probably wouldn’t be hanging out with Avery.  She sat down and I looked at her. She was a pretty girl with dark brown hair and yellow eyes. I thought about the eyes for a second but then my thoughts turned to my best friend. I pushed Billy over and let him sat down. I asked what he thought of Avery. He said that on a scale of 1-10 she was probably 7. I disagreed with him I said that she was definitely 9.

I looked at her and said,” Hi, I’m Jeremy.”  She smiled and called to Billy and told him to come over and sit next to griffin. The staff passed out snack and I talked to Alex about the weekend. His grandma is really cool and rich; she invites us over every weekend. I then asked Alex if he had seen the recent werewolf movie. He said, “Yeah! My favorite part was when the boy was bitten and he grew the fur that night. It was hilarious!” Avery said, “No that is not right. Werewolves don’t only form on the full moon.” I looked at her strangely and let the conversation drop.

When snack was over I walked over to her and asked how she knew so much about werewolves. She said nothing and walked away looking awkward. I went into the library to do my homework. Alex’s mom came and picked him up and I was left alone. So I walked over to Avery and Griffin’s table. Avery looked at me and it looked and sounded like she actually snarled……… Avery told me that she was a werewolf. I got scared and really stressed. You see, my dad was a werewolf.

– When he died three years ago, a few months before, he took me to my room. He told me that he knew he was going to die soon. He said, “Jeremy, please don’t interrupt me and let me talk all the way. I am a werewolf. I have been one for as long as I can remember. I am basically your average werewolf. The only things are that I can’t be killed by a silver bullet, I am stronger than most humans, and I am basically like the werewolf from twilight. Have you ever heard of that book?” I shook my head and he continued, “Well you should read it because it is going to become rally big soon. I am like that except I don’t change when I am angry. I am telling you this because I believe that you may be a werewolf or half-werewolf.—

She asked why I looked so worried and I pondered in my mind whether ii should tell her about my dad. I didn’t really want to because she was probably joking. Then she said, “I know, you probably don’t believe me well look.” Just then she showed me her hand. One second it was normal. The next, it was a paw!

When I saw the paw, I blinked and looked again to make sure it was real. It was alright. Right then I made the decision to tell her about my dad.

“Avery, umm, I don’t know how to tell you this but, my dad was a werewolf.” I spoke. I looked up to see her eyes turning blood-red and backed off. It didn’t help; she came up after me and grabbed me by the shoulder with her human hand. Man! Was she strong!

“I don’t care how stupid I sound. I am being completely serious, if you’re going to act like you just did, you better watch your back. Or you are going to be in a lot of danger. She finished, growled. I looked at her confused and quietly responded,

“I am not joking. You know I am not. I heard you talking to Griffin.” I saw her stunned expression and continued,” Yes I could hear you tell him that you think I am something special. I don’t know what and neither do you but it is obviously something with good ears. Do you know something that can draw well? On second thought, scratch that. As far as I can tell all of us draw well. I don’t know but I am going to let you talk since you are fuming. Oh, and as a side thought, isn’t it amazing that I am as calm as I am?” I finished, smiling.

Avery just stared at me uncomprehending so I said it as simply as possible, “Jeremy hear good. Me is a creature!”

She hardened her look and spat, “I understand that! I just don’t believe it! What did your dad look like?”

I looked at her and spoke,” I do not remember that well. I remember he had dark hair and green eyes. Well sometimes they were blue or yellow.” In truth, I remembered him as clear as day. I just didn’t want to tell her because I still didn’t fully trust her.

“Jeremy, I think that your dad was the one who bit me.” She spoke slowly at first then sped up,” I mean think about it? It is too much of a coincidence, I mean, how old are you? Never mind, that was rhetorical, I already know. You are 13, born in 1996. When you were five, did your dad disappear? Wait, I already know that too, everyone knows your mom and dad got divorced when you were four. I was three then, my mom and dad were on their third honeymoon and I had walked into the forest. I don’t know what happened then, but my mom said she heard me screaming and found me with a bite on my leg!” she finished panting. I looked at her then burst out laughing. Wrong move, I ended up with her biting my arm. Not a joke she reminded me. I think. Right then my mom picked me up and I went home. I kind of thought something big would have happened after that but it didn’t. I just went home and sat there thinking. Of course, when you’re a werewolf, you can’t be normal forever. Well, at least not on the first night after you found that what your ‘crazy’ dad told you was true.

The Arrival

By Not Telling

(Stage lights turn on to a stage. The stage scenery is a meadow with trees in a circle around the meadow. A girl sits on a big rock in CS)

SETHIMINE

(Walks out of UR and sits down beside girl in CS)

Are you okay? You’ve been quiet all day. Are you angry at me?

AZURA

(Looks up with a disbelieving look on face)

If I was mad, you would be in really bad pain right now!

(Edge creeping into voice)

SETHIMINE

(Looks up and rises up into air.[1] Looks at Azura.)

Is that a threat? I don’t think you would last for 5 minutes. You may be able to float like me, but only with the help of your ‘precious’ rocks.

AZURA

(Immediately shoots up with the help of a rock.)

It isn’t stupid y’know, you have been saved plenty of times by my ‘precious’ rocks.

SETHIMINE

(Eyes level with Azura. Sneer on Face.)

You really think your better, don’t you?! Well, I challenge you to one of those fight thingies!

Scene Two

(Lights down, three benches, two thrones, one circle.  Thirteen people—one king, on queen, A&S, and nine random cheer people.  The stage is set up into an old Greek Arena, the benches are the stands. In the middle stand Azura and Seth. The two are either, preferably, wearing white tunics or ‘warrior’ outfits.)

(Lights up)

AZURA

(Looks around with a sneer creeping on to face.)

Wow, Seth, you really chose this place? Out of all the places in time, you chose here?

SETHIMINE

Yeah, I thought this was the only place that could fit your big ego.

(Azura backs off to UL with sadness on face and hides behind hands.)

SETHIMINE

(Concern)

I’m sorry, are you okay? I didn’t mean that.

(Walks over and under breath says,)

Well I did but you deserved it.

AZU

I’m fine!

(Sends flying kick towards Seth, only to be stopped by a strand of water.[2]  Water freezes)

SETH

Seriously, why are we doing this? This is cheap and baby-like,

AZU

(Thinks for a moment then looks up.)

Well it was your idea. Well, once again, it was probably Jeremy’s fault again.  He is always making us do stupid things.

SETH

(Anger crosses his face)

Yeah, that jerk is always doing stuff to us. Remember when he made us fight with the Urgals? How the heck did he even get them out of the book, umm, oh yes! I remember now, it was Eragon.

AZU

(Shivers then shrugs when Seth finishes.)

I don’t know, Hey! Look! There’s a cute little woodland animal!.

SETH

(Looks at animal)

Yes, good job Azura, it IS an animal.

(Under breath.)

A fake one anyway.

AZU

I heard that! You know, just because it says, ‘Under Breath’ doesn’t mean I can’t hear you.

SETH

Ok, well, he doesn’t know the story should we tell him?

AZU

Nah, but we could tell that man who is about to kill you.

SETHIMINE

(Turns around, startled only to find that the man was trapped with rocks)

Ok, fine you made a point. Anyway, man-who-was-trying-to-assassinate-me, Jeremy is our author. He is always writing stuff that almost nearly kills us. All this,( gestures around) is his creation. You might not like it, but he was the one who sent you to kill me.

MAN

W-W-what?

AZU

Yes, even if you were sent here by a master, then he was under Jeremy’s author control.

SETHIMINE

(Points to man and man disappears.)

Okay, well we can finally go home now. Lets get out of here so I can send this place back to it’s time.

AZU

(Points to foot, after she finishes, both laugh.)

Uh, Seth? Could you at least get me out of here?

Scene Two

Scenery is the same as in the meadow. This time, a tree trunk is near by and there is no rock.

______________________________________________

さて

“Hey, Chris, time for school!” That’s my mom, “You don’t want to be late again, especially not at your new school!” My mom yelled.

“Ughh, Please don’t remind me.” I responded.

“Stop being lethargic and get your butt down here!” my sister Tarina yelled.

“I’m coming right now!” I groggily shouted.

Then I realized in horror, a new school!  I must’ve been an expert at things like this by now, but come on! Another new school! This is my 6th school! Ah well I guess I have to. I dragged myself out of bed thinking thank God that they don’t have uniforms. The uniforms are a pointless use of fabric and money. We can take care of our selves if we are made fun of. But I am not rich enough to change that, someday. I put on some clothes and sat down on my bed. Just then, I heard an urgent tap at the window. When I looked outside my window I saw my new best friend sitting out on the tree branch closest to my window. I opened the window and let him in.

“Hi Tom, how are you?’ I inquired innocently.

“Hi Tom, how are you?” Tom mimicked in an angry way.

“Shies, what is up with you today? I have never seen—“

“Stop your yapping and come on. I am tired and I need a walk.”

I just stared at him with my mouth open. I said ok and we bolted down the stairs, ate some toast, and ran to school. My friend Tom has dark brown hair and bright green eyes. He is just about as tall as me. In fact, the neighborhood kids thought we were twins. Well, we didn’t exactly correct them either. When Tom and I got to school he introduced me to all his friends. We went to the playground and started joking around. When a kid mentioned that he saw a movie about werewolves, we all started joking about them. This girl Yreva got all mad and stalked away. Tom followed after her just as angry. Yreva was short and had short brown hair. She had yellow eyes and looked very strong. I think that she even had fangs. I am completely serious, FaNgS! I followed them until they stopped. I asked them, “Why did you get so mad?” This question probably was what changed my life forever. If I hadn’t asked this I would still be a normal 13 year old.

YellowEyes

Part 3

“What do you want you jerk?” Yreva sneered.

“What are you talking about?” I stuttered.

I was getting scared because Yreva’s eyes were turning bright yellow. “I’ve never seen eyes that color! Do you have contacts?” I asked.

“Chris, it would be towards your benefit if you left right now.” Tom muttered through his teeth.

“Ok, ok I will leave!” I said angrily, because I felt like Tom betrayed me. “No, uh, it’s umm…..ok. I think it is safe to tell him about… me.” She hesitated then asked,” Do you believe in mythological creatures?” wait what? By now Yreva had calmed down, but the more she said, the more I felt suspicious.

“Are you two playing some kind of big, freakish joke on me? Because I’m not buying it!” I yelled. I was starting to get close to tears because they were scaring me so much.

Yreva looked surprised and said, “What? No! I am being completely serious! I am talking about werewolves and stuff like that. Do you believe in them?” And believe it or not I actually believed they were serious.

“Well, I don’t really believe in them.”

Yreva looked frustrated and sighed, “Well, you should, because… I am a werewolf. Tom is actually a Griffin. That’s why his arms are so hairy; he has such a pointy nose, and has dark brown hair and bright green eyes.”

Whoa, I thought about this for a few minutes while we walked inside the cafeteria. This girl has just told me she and my best friend are not humans. Do I believe them? Yes. And I think I like this girl! Well I could lie and say someone in my family is a werewolf. Then they would think I am half-werewolf. Or I could say they are crazy and never talk to them again. I think what I am about to do is way wrong but I am sure it will make us all happy. “Yreva? Tom? I thought about it.” I said.

“And?” asked Yreva.

I hesitated and stated, “The reason I was so surprised is because my dad was a werewolf. I am a half-werewolf.

YellowEyes

Part 4

Yreva fainted. “Ahhh?! What happened to Yreva?!” Tom stuttered looking like he was about to faint.

I shrugged and looked at him and said, “Come on, we got to get her to the nurse. She might be really hurt.”

Tom looked at me like I was crazy and said, “Are you crazy?” Of course. I completely expected that. After all, he was looking at me like I was crazy.

“Well do you have a better plan?” I snapped angrily at him.

He looked at me, once again like I was crazy, and said, “Did your dad teach you anything? Werewolves have a temperature of 102 running in their bodies if they are healthy! If we brought her to the nurse like this they would think she is dead!”

I heard a cracking sound and got scared. I looked at Tom like I had a question. He grinned and explained that since Yreva was a werewolf, she healed much more quickly and was healing. He also said that her bones were ‘fragile’ today since there was a full moon last night. So her bones were still turning back to human. I asked him if she had turned full but he said that she just got the senses, bulkier, and a tail since she was so young.

Then, Tom stopped grinning and said seriously,” You better back off because Yreva might be in a mood when she comes around.”

I just laughed and stayed where I was. Then, I felt a hard bite on my arm.                       “OW! What was that for? I didn’t do anything!” Luckily, by now, all the kids had left and it was just us. Tom half-tackled Yreva and held her down. Believe it or not, Yreva let him. Then I got a hard feeling in the pit of my stomach. Yreva looked like she was having an epiphany and looked almost in pain. She got up and looked at me hard and walked off.  Tom and I went to our classes but I couldn’t pay attention to any of them. I ran home after school and flung myself onto my bunk bed. I did my homework halfheartedly and just sat there and thought. I thought hard about this morning with Yreva and Tom. Soon after, I fell into a deep sleep full of wolves, lions, and eagles. I even had a dream that an eagle came and picked my arm right off as if it were a giant worm. When I woke up I wasn’t sure whether I was excited or dreading the coming school day. I walked to school and didn’t see Yreva or Tom for the entire day. I felt like they were ignoring me. This went on for a couple weeks until the next full moon. On the night of the full moon I got a terrible sickness but I wasn’t sure whether it was because Yreva bit me or if it was just a coincidence. I didn’t come to school for two days. When I came back, Yreva and Tom were anxiously looking for me. I took a deep breath and headed over to them.

YellowEyes

Part 5

“What happened to you? Are you ok? Did anything happen to you on the full moon?” Tom whispered worriedly.

I tartly responded, “I grew a tail, ate raw meat, and smelled the little boy’s waste. FROM ACROSS THE STREET!”

Yreva looked at me sarcastically and said, “That sounds pleasant. What really happened to you?”

I got sick, threw up, and thought about when you bit me. Was It a coincidence or not? Because technically it couldn’t have had any effect on me, if I am already a half-werewolf.” I told her angrily,” And, umm. You didn’t really need to bite me that day! Why did you do it? All I said was that my dad was a werewolf and I was pretty sure that I am half werewolf.”

Yreva whispered harshly, “Don’t say that so loudly! The cafeteria isn’t empty like that day!”

I whispered back just as harshly,” Cant we just stop saying ‘that day’ and refer to it as D-Day!”

Tom pulled me back because I was almost in Yreva’s face and forcefully stated,” Stop fighting you two; you’re acting like an old married couple.”

Yreva’s eyes narrowed at Tom as she growled,” Why did you choose married couples as an example?”

“Because it was the only thing that came to mind”

“Well… whatever. Just please leave now Tom.”

Tom left and Yreva turned to look at me. She motioned for me to follow her and I did. “What is this all about?” I asked

Yreva looked at me and sighed, “Can I trust you to keep a secret?” I nodded and she continued,” Do you know what imprinting is? Never mind, let me just explain it. Imprinting is when a Werewolf falls in love-uncontrollably. It can happen on a baby, a person their age, or a person much older. When they imprint on a baby, this is when they have a need to protect and be a companion. When it on a person a little younger, just their age, or a little older; they fall uncontrollably in love. They feel everything more strongly. When they imprint an older person, they have the same feelings as they would a baby plus they always take care of that person.”

I asked her what this all had to do with me and why. I hoped that she had imprinted me but I knew in my heart that she had imprinted someone. Someone I have known for a long time.

“I have imprinted on Tom. When he tackled me on ‘D-Day’, I looked into his eyes and I felt huge emotion. It may not be but I think he is the one.”

I felt really sad and thought that maybe there was hope. I asked, “Can you imprint on more than one person?”

She looked puzzled and answered, “Yes, No, Maybe. I think the first has to be dead first. ”Great, I have to kill Tom or somehow outlive a griffin if I ever want to have a chance with her. I could tell him, but then there would be .1% chance that she would still like me. Or I could not tell him and hope she doesn’t say anything. But he is my best my friend and I should! But I am definitely in love with Yreva and I really want to tell her the truth. Fine I will tell him. “Yreva, I will tell Tom.” Suddenly, I heard a whistle and a window cracking.

‘Boom’

“Run before he gets to you!” Yreva yelled.

I grabbed my stuff and ran with Yreva and Tom at my back. I looked behind me and saw a man with a strange knife and a shotgun. He looked about 15 and had spiky brown hair and a long grey coat. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes. We ran outside and I yelled, “Follow me; I know a safe place we can go!” I took them to the tree behind the pool. It was a pine tree that reached almost 4 stories high. I led them in and we went to a metal building a few branches up. “My dad uses this for his workshop. I think he is an FBI agent. Anyways, he took me here once and said if I ever get hurt or lost, come here.” I walked to the opposite wall and turned on the M.S.T.V.I. (That stands for Microsoft Surface Televised Vision Interactive).

Part 6

I called my dad and he told us to stay at the safe house with Yreva and Tom. I pulled a picture of the man from the security cameras, and tried to match it to a face on my dad’s matching program called A.F.I.S. This is the main reason why I am almost sure he is a secret agent for the FBI. “Who was that person who tried to kill us?” I murmured.

Yreva looked uncomfortable and said,” Have you ever heard of a bounty hunter?”

I nodded and replied, “Aren’t those like people who hunt rare animals?”

She looked uncomfortable and said,” Yes, since I am a werewolf and Tom is a griffin, he is chasing us. That’s why you can’t find him on A.F.I.S., he is one of the best, and he always covers up his tracks, so no one can find him. He hunts me every time something big happens, and I think what I just told you is pretty darn big.”

Tom looked at us confusingly and asked,” What have you two been talking about behind my back?” he finished suspiciously. I looked at Yreva and she shook her head in a way like she was saying not to talk.

‘Boom’

“Oh, this is just all flipping Anaya! Yreva cussed. At least I think it was a cuss. Something in me knew, or thought, it was. I remembered when my dad yelled fudge when he told me he was a werewolf. Somehow I knew that was a cuss too. Then I thought, ‘oh no! I am starting to believe this lie! I have to remember that is what this is. A lie, a simple fib I told… a fib that I am starting to have second thoughts about.’ I start thinking that maybe I should even tell them that I am not a half werewolf.

“Yreva, if we are going to die, I want you to know that I have always liked you.” Tom declared. I heard a gasp and I turned around. That moment I felt all hell brake loose as my heart was ripped open and the safe place was blown apart. Tom had kissed Yreva. Yreva looked completely surprised and looked at me. I did my best to hide my look of despair and any leak of debilitated hope. Tom looked at me embarrassed and I didn’t care because he kissed Yreva.

What are you looking at me for? You two are the couple now! You don’t need me!” I bellowed. Yreva and Tom looked at me like they were hurt. I didn’t care and I walked for the door. I looked around the safe house, which was totally decimated and just walked out of the door; I didn’t even use the ladder. I just wanted to disappear, and I hoped that the bounty hunter took or even killed me-

Yreva

Chris, No, don’t do it! You have so much to live for!” I screamed. Well, I tried to scream over the noise… Chris jumped out the door.   Then I collapsed onto the floor on my knees. Then I just realized the most important thing in the world. “Chris isn’t a werewolf. He isn’t a Half, A full, or anything to do with werewolves.” I looked at Tom and screamed at him, “He is too human. Too much like you. Go to the door and see if he is flying!” Tom looked at me like I was crazy, but did what I wanted. He went over, looked out, and nearly fainted. Right then, a giant griffin swooped in the door. I was right, Chris is a griffin.

Chris

What am I doing? How am I flying? Oomph Yreva smacked into me in a giant bear hug. I landed and looked around. Tom was staring at me with his mouth hanging and eyes wide. “Your- Your- You’re a Griffin?”  I just collapsed on to the floor. “But that’s not possible! Can it really be you?”

I stared at him and inquired, “Umm, who is you? I am me, not you. Why are you talking like that?” Wow, that was really strange. I am feeling like a sage now. That is just plain creepy.

He sighed and said, “I have never told anyone this before. My parents are griffins, as you know, but of course they stay in human form. But, when a griffin is raised by humans, it almost never turns. When my mother was flying one day, my twin brother was lost in a fall. He is just as old as me and looks just like that. I think that you are my lost brother.” This is exactly like a sitcom. If it was, I would be running over, crying and hugging. In real life, I don’t know what to do. I walked over and I nuzzled him with my beak. Then I pushed him over as hard as I could and sat on his chest. I asked him if I could turn back and he just told me to think, “I am human, I am human, I am human.” Sort of like the Wizard of Oz. It was really a weird thought.  That’s exactly what I did.

– This was a really weird adventure I had, and I want to have so many more. Well, now I know what I am writing my story at school about now. I apologize in some parts as this happened so long ago, I can’t remember it all. I am with my brother now and parents. That day, we survived the bounty hunter and we left with no scratches. Yreva and Tom became even better friends and I came over my liking of her. Ok, well, I sort of came over it. But, I only did that because Tom was my brother, otherwise…; D When I came home, my parents had a knowing look in their eyes. They said, “We are so proud of you! You will always be our son.” I went to Tom’s house and he pulled aside his parents. After a minute his mom, my mom, ran in and gave me a simple but long, choking, and joyful hug.  I always had a nagging feeling something was wrong. No more, I am happy.–

The End

[1] You can do this by having a bush behind the two with a stool behind it. Seth can step on the bush and you can do the same for Azura. Except, change it to a rock taped to a stool to make it look like it is levitating.

[2] You can do this by having a cardboard cut-out behind a bush that was between the two. Then the actor playing Seth could kick the bush out of the way. Or, you could have it on the floor and have Seth twist down and stand it up.

Well, once again, it was probably Jeremy’s fault again. He is always making us do stupid things.
