Death Note Roleplay (with friend)
Auran spied a something black on the street drain in front of his door. A twinkle shot off of the cover, and he covered his eyes. Geezus kryst, what kind of trash could make that big of a blinding… thing?
He stepped out of his car and bent down to pick up the notebook. He held it out in front of his face and shrugged.
Who leaves a notebook here on the street? He slipped it into his mailbag and walked into his home. The cracked brown door creaked, so original, and he dropped all of his stuff on a chair. He grabbed the notebook and sat down on the couch. He held the notebook in front of him and smirked at the cover.
“Death Note. Ha, must be some writing notebook for some geek.” He murmured. He unconsciously picked up the remote and turned on the TV while he flipped to the first page.
“Huh. The human whose name is written in this note shall die. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected. If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.” He read off of the first page.
Auran opened to the next page and saw a few names that he didn’t recognize. “Wow this guy is really…” He didn’t even finish the sentence out loud. This guy is either really smart, or insane. Auran dropped the notebook and turned his attention to the TV.

Jaimie ran down the street, clutching the thick black notebook to his chest. He skidded to a stop and held the notebook at arms length, where he could see the crudely written words scrawled on the cover. Death Note.
“How can something like this possibly exist?” He asked in a small, trembling voice.
This had all started when he came home from school. He had come home to find his little sister, Lemming, writing in her ‘diary.’
“Today, Andy Smith and Tanner Jones pulled my pig-tails!” She said, reading out loud as she wrote, adding more exclamation points then needed.
Jaime smiled and then noticed that this wasn’t her normal diary, the pink one with pink paper, but a larger notebook with a black cover.
“Uhm, Lemming, can I see that for a minute?” She handed it over, and he looked over the cover. Death Note. He flipped open to the first page. “The person whose name is written in this note shall… die?”
He looked over at his sister. Being the abnormally paranoid person that he was, he believed that she had just killed two of her class mates, seemingly innocent nine-year-olds like herself.
“L-lemming, I’ll be right back.” He said rushing out the door.
And now we are back to the present. Jaimie read the front pages again, skimming all of the ‘rules’ scrawled onto the pages.
“WHAT THE HECK?! THIS HAS TO BE A JOKE!”

As Auran watched, a news broadcast popped up onto the tv screen. He rolled his eyes; they were popping up everywhere and anywhere these days. He turned up the volume because he knew that it would be on every channel, so he might as well watch.
“Police are currently on location as a shooting is happening in a McDonald’s store across from the news building. The man appeared to be doing the shooting is Luke Donawell, a notorius homocide…r. ” The woman on the tv brushed back her hair and continued, “Police can’t go in obviously or this wouldn’t be on here.”
Auran watched carefully and decided to take a test. He would write down the name of Luke, and see if he died. He picked up the Death Note and flipped to a blank page. He picked up a pen and wrote, “Luke Donawell. 8:08 PM Nov. 16, 2009. McDonalds he is in blows up, only he dies.”
Auran looked back up at the Tv and watched, not expecting anything. However, at exactly 8:08 a white flame appeared on the TV. The camera blacked out for a moment, and it came back on, showing a smoking McDonalds. Rather, the remains of it. His jaw dropped, and he looked down at the notebook. He threw it away from him in fright and brought his legs up to his chin. He stared at the TV.
“-and others are coming out now. It seems as if the only one who died was ironically Luke Donawell. The victims have a few burns but are otherwise okay. Updates will continue as the nig-” The tv clicked off. Auran stared at it in fright.
“It’s really real.” His voice shook

Jaimie realized he must look incredibly stupid standing in the middle of the road, yelling to himself. He silently shuffled to the sidewalk, sitting down on the curb. “What if they find out, and then Lemming’s charged for murder, and put into jail with all of those creepy… jail people?” He said, running a hand through his hair.
He spent so much time sitting on the curb, thinking of all of the things that could happen, that it started to get dark.
“Uhhhhh… Which way did I come from again?”
“That way.”
“Oh, than—”
Jaime turned around to see a… point blank, a creepy-ass monster thingy.
“Uh… I-I.. Wha-what… WHAT THE HECK?” Jaimie yelled, backing up, holding the notebook between him and the monster. “G-get the heck away from me!”
“Awh! That was rude!” The monster replied.
“That’s it, I’m insane. I’ve totally lost it…”

Auran heard a scream echo threw the open window and he abruptly stood. “Stupid kid. Why don’t you just shut up!” he said to himself. He slammed the window shut and turned around.
“Argh!” He screamed, starting to hyperventilate. A black creature was standing there, easily the ugliest thing he had ever seen. It stared back at him with hard black eyes. Crooked wings that sprang from its back gently beat the air to keep it off of the ground. Auran started to calm down after a long period of silence.
“W-what are you?” he stammered.
“Well. That was rude of you. I am Ryuuk, and your have my Death Note.” The thing smiled at him and Auran shivered.
“Well, you can have it back; it’s over there.” The thing laughed and said, “I can’t take it back. It is yours now. One thing, when you die… You’re not going to heaven, you’re going nowhere. You’re going to disappear like the flame on a candle.”
Auran laughed. “Alright then. I will keep your death note. But, what are you?”
Ryuuk eyed him seriously and said, “What else? I am a Death God, otherwise known as ‘Shinigami’.”

Jaimie perked up, hearing someone else’s voice… yelling at him. Here he was, being attacked by a potentially dangerous monster, and some dude was yelling at him to shut up.
“UGH!” He yelled, throwing the notebook away, starting to run away in the opposite direction.
“So… You’re really giving it back to me? Even though… You could do great things with it?” The monster asked, and Jaimie came to a stop.
“Uhh… I, uhm… C-can I— I th-think I just might keep it for a little bit…” He said, walking back and picking up the notebook.
“I’m Shinigami Sidoh. Just thought you might want to—”
“J-just keep awaay from me!” Jaimie recoiled. The monster grinned, and then disappeared.
You could do great things with it…
“What is this, a Harry Potter movie?” He asked outloud, flipping through the pages again.
——
Auran stared at the thing standing in front of him. “And… Your point is?” The Death God stared at him. He rolled his eyes and turned around. He rose up into the ceiling and disappeared.
“Okay then, see you later… Ryuuk.” Auran turned around and picked up the Death Note. I can use this for the good of man. I can become my own God, and it won’t be a flipping dream! He opened it up and turned on the computer.
“Let’s see who needs a… cleansing, shall we?” He grinned and took out his pen. He put it to the paper and watched the TV carefully.
